Today was a day off for me. I tidied up around the house a bit and did some laundry. I caught up on some emails, etc. I made dinner for my hubby and my son, Joshua, and we watched three episodes of Hannibal and just chilled and visited. Tomorrow is final weigh and measure before voting. I won’t lie, I am a bit nervous. We shall see?

Today was a rest and relax day. As much fun as it was planning and putting on our fundraiser, I am glad it is over!

Today I spent just updating this blog, resting, relaxing and spending time with my hubby.

Tomorrow starts a new week…

So today is the big fundraising event day! Dazzling Divas Dining Extravaganza!

First I had to put in a full day at Ronald Allan. It was a good day and went fast. As usual lots of new arrivals to get on the floor and my favorite part is serving our amazing customers!

My hubby and I arrived at the venue, Friendly Mike’s in Chilliwack, just shortly after 5. I must admit it was a bit chaotic. As expected we were running behind and everyone was tense about getting it all set up in time.

Everyone on the team had their specific duties for the evening. I really think we worked well as a team. It wasn’t perfect, I must say. We definitely made some mistakes, etc., however we tried to rectify as many as we could. Of course changes would be made if we had a do-over.

With feedback coming in, the general consensus is that everyone had a very good time and it was lots of fun! Also, the amount of money generated for charity was also astounding! We still have to wait a week or so for all our totals but when I tell you all, I think you will be very proud of our team!

I definitely want to thank each and everyone of you who bought tickets from me and came out and supported us! I also want to thank all the wonderful businesses and individuals that gave so many generous donations! Without those our event would not have been so successful. I would also like to thank Andrew and Arlene Simpson for coming out to support us and to be amazing judges. Of course to Jenny and Trish and their husbands and Candice, as well as all their guests. Lastly I would like to thank Friendly Mike’s for the venue and the totally amazing staff. The service was beyond amazing! If I forgot anyone, please forgive me and let me know as I can edit this blog anytime.

Now off to bed!

Hair, makeup and photo shoot day!!! This is just the best! Sooo excited!!!

I went to Shoppers Drug Mart and Melissa put on my false lashes for me. She is just so beautiful and awesome!

Then off to see Cecile at Fire and Ice for hair. Cecile is amazing! I love her to bits! She outdid herself this time on my hair. You will have to wait for photos.

Then to makeup at Fire and Ice with Karina with her amazing Arbonne makeup and it was applied by Bethany from Beauty by B. They are both amazing women. I really enjoyed talking with Karina and getting to know her better. Bethany was very accommodating in doing our makeup in a way that made us feel comfortable. She is great at what she does and really knows her stuff!

Then off to see Andrew and Arlene at photoart by simpson. I was a wee bit nervous at first. I don’t mind having my picture taken, however have not done it professionally for many years, so just wanted to make sure I did what they wanted. They were both great and of course work as an amazing team. They made me feel so comfortable and I just let them place me where they wanted me.

I just can’t wait to see the photos! I should get a sneak peak by Thursday and maybe you will too!

Also thank you to my employers, Ronald Allan Clothiers for the lovely dress and jacket! I had many compliments, especially on the color.

Today I had my hair color touched up as tomorrow is photo shoot day! I am sooo excited! I am definitely a girly girl when it comes to that stuff.

I had lunch with my Mom to discuss some business. Then back home to rest. I’m not sure why but I was very tired today.

Hubby and I went to my Mom’s for dinner. It was great! She had invited another couple and we discussed more business. It was a fun evening, however I’m exhausted and have a busy two days ahead.

Good night all!

Guess what day it is? You know; weigh in day! Well here it is, it was a down week; down 3.4 pounds! I wasn’t biggest loser this week, however I was close, but I am so happy to be in the 160’s even if barely!

I stuck to my changes and it worked. I really need to step it up because next week is final numbers for Abby News and this blog. Voting starts on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 3 pm PST. Are you ready to rock this voting?!?

Our meeting was amazing this week! They just keep getting better and better! The effort that Jenny, Trish and Candice (and I am sure others) put in to making these meeting fun and informative is awesome! Thanks again ladies!!!

Our guest speakers were from Toastmasters. They gave us lots of tips on how to give a great speech and then… we were all told we had 8 minutes to prepare as we were each going to give a 2-minute speech on why we applied to be a challenger in the Total Makeover Challenge. You should have heard the moans and groans. Everyone seemed either afraid, unprepared or both.

Everyone did AWESOME!!! It was such an amazing evening; words just cannot describe it!

I realized afterward why they didn’t tell us about it earlier. If we had known about it prior, we would have all stressed and worried ourselves sick about it. Thank you for sparing us all from that!

We were finished early this evening, so our team decided to go for coffee and finish our meeting that we had started at 5 pm. This was the last time we will all meet in person before event day.

Still lots to do! If you would like to join us and don’t have tickets, let me know and I will find some for you!

Today I drove out to pick up my last silent auction donation. This one is definitely one of my favorites and I will get my hubby to bid on this one for me. I had a few other stops to pick up brochures and business cards as well. I know it will all come together and knew it would be a lot of work, however I never realized all what went into putting on an event of this magnitude. I have been learning so much! It sure takes an amazing team with everyone doing their part! And that we have!!!

So I have stuck to my changes this week and stayed under 1400 calories per day. Let’s hope it shows on the scale tomorrow!

Today was our team meeting in Chilliwack at Friendly Mike’s, which is our venue. It was nice to be able to see the layout. There is a large room we can use for our silent auction and photo booth which is great! I think it will be awesome! I brought in the last of my donations (except for one I am picking up tomorrow).

So many details to be worked out. I am so happy we have ladies on our team that are very detail oriented and think of things that I would never think of.

We are a great team and this will be a great event! There are still a few tickets left so if you would like to come and be part of the fun, just let me know!

I was also able to sell all 10 of my contest books already so that is one more thing I don’t have to worry about. Wow! 10 days before deadline! Thanks to all who bought and good luck!

Today was another day or running errands and picking up donations for our silent auction. I almost have all my donations in now and I have exceeded my personal goal I set for myself.

I spent a few hours with my Mom (it has been a while). We went to Goody Too Shoes in Mission where I tried on four pairs of great, comfortable shoes. I wish I could have bought all 4 pairs, however I got one for today and will go back and get the others over time. We then went to Lepp’s and had a small bite of lunch and did a bit of shopping.

All in all, it was a great day!

On Tuesdays meeting we were challenged to make one change: either food, exercise or whatever. Today I decided I would change no more mochas or desserts. Even if my husband brings home a homemade pie! Also my goal is to stay under 1400 calories per day. I did well today and because I write down everything I eat or drink and track my calories, I hope to be successful at this and see my numbers go down at the next weigh in.

Today was spent working at Ronald Allan. There is still a lot of spring clothing arriving so we are kept very busy getting it all out on to the floor and serving our amazing customers!

Today I found out that a young man that lived with us during his teenage years has been displaced from his apartment because of a fire in his building. It was in the unit above his, so his unit was very water damaged. This was difficult news for our family, however we are just glad everyone was safe and uninjured!

Weigh in day again. I was a bit nervous as I had a big loss last week. Seems to be up and down, up and down. So… up it was, by 1 pound. Back at it again and try to do better. I am not an evening weigher, I much prefer early mornings.

We had a video challenge that was due today as well. No problem with the video, just lots of issues getting it emailed. My amazing hubby came through again and got it done!

Our meeting was amazing as always! First we had Karina Lanting. She used her amazing Arbonne makeup and did Jenn’s makeup. She gave us tips and tricks for our photoshoot. Next was Andrew and Arlene Simpson for photoart by simpson. They are the photographers for the Total Makeover Challenge. They gave us tips on what to wear, what not to wear and most importantly to relax and they would do the rest. Last, but not least was Mrs. BC, Tetyanna Golota. She had us put on her heels and to learn how to walk like a model. It was fun! I know how to walk in heels, however not sure about the modeling part.

My favorite part of the evening however was the end where we all sat around in a circle and just talked informally, had a Q & A and were able to share.

Overall a very fun and informative meeting!

We also received 10 more books of tickets for the fabulous contest That we are not supposed to call a raffle. I sold 10 books in the first segment and I have 10 more to sell this segment. Contact me if you would like some!

Today my hubby and I worked ferociously on the business plan for our event. We stayed up way too late to get it done as it has to be all printed out (4 copies) and passed in tomorrow. Even though it is a small event in comparison to the larger type business plans that he has done, it is still a lot of work to get it right. This is one thing we should have started much earlier. It is what it is and it is done now!

Today our team met at Terri’s house in Chilliwack. It was a great meeting and I feel we got a lot accomplished. Many of us brought what donations we have collected so far and it is looking pretty good. This whole event is really coming together and we have an awesome team! I am so thankful for all these ladies!

I think we realized today that none of us are super great at doing the business plan, so we have asked my hubby for help. Thank goodness he is willing to give us some feedback as it’s due on Tuesday evening.

Today was another day to get more donations for our fundraiser. Had some great successes and a few disappointments. I am choosing to focus on the successes because they are far greater than the disappointments. Anyway, negativity has never gotten me anywhere.

I wish I could tell you more bout our fundraiser, but for now I will just tell you it will be amazing! If you would like to come and support us, get a hold of me for tickets and I will hook you up!

I only worked a 4 hour shift till 1:30 today as my Mom had a surprise for us. She bought tickets for herself, my son, Evan, my hubby and myself to see Cavalia. Wow! It was amazing! I have always loved horses and she knew how badly I wanted to go, so thank you Mom! We left Abby early and went to a great pub on the water for dinner and then to the show. It was a long evening, but so worth it!

Tonight was weigh and measure! So here goes, I was biggest loser this week! So excited, I was down 4.2 pounds and 3 inches! That helped to makeup for last weeks gain. I was also lucky enough to win a prize of a 30-minute massage from Arreter Health & Wellness https://www.facebook.com/ArreterHealthWellness/?rc=p Thank you so very much!

We also had another amazing speaker, Monique MacDonald. She spoke on Discover Your Sacred Gifts and Feel On Purpose. There are 24 sacred gifts all together. Most people have a few gifts. We went through 4 of them and I was able to determine that one of my Sacred Gifts is Encouragement. I think we all enjoyed this meeting immensely and would have loved it to continue. It is so inspiring to learn new things about ourselves each and every week!

Monique is holding one of her workshops here in Abbotsford in October 2017. I would definitely like to plan on going. If you are interested, let me know and I will get you more info.

Today I sent out many emails looking for specific donations from specific businesses. Now I just have to sit back and wait for responses, hopefully positive ones.

Last week Gina gave us a challenge to track our sugar for four days. Four grams of sugar equals one teaspoon. We were to put the equivalent of what we ate in grams of sugar in teaspoons of sugar into a baggie and label it. I got that ready today to bring to the meeting tomorrow. Quite an eye opener!

I learned that everything has sugar. Also, our bodies need sugar, just probably not as much as we think.

Today I worked at Ronald Allan. Such a busy time of year as all the new spring arrivals are coming in. It never seems we get enough done in a day and are always trying to get caught up, but as Vicki says “it will always get done”. So many awesome fashions in men’s and ladies! Stop by and take a look!

Feb 28, 2017

So tonight was weigh in day. I was up 2.6 pounds! I was not expecting that at all. I knew it wouldn’t be awesome, however I was expecting to stay the same or go up just a bit. It was deflating but I will just have to work harder!

This segment is called “The Apprentice”. The Top 15 and the wildcards were put into three teams. Our challenge is to put on a successful fundraiser for Shape your World Society and another charity of our choosing. We had to come up with a team name: we chose Dazzling Divas. Also, we had to choose our event date and we chose Saturday, March 25, 2017. The rest of the planning is still to come, however they gave us a little time in our teams to talk and throw out ideas. I have never done anything like this and it is a little nerve wracking but oh so exciting!

Our guest speaker was Karen McGregor from Speaker Success Formula. She spoke to us about how to host a successful fundraiser and gave us some great tips that we will use going forward.

Check back for more details as we move forward.

Today is rest and recover day. I need to recharge for segment two. I have heard that this is the toughest segment. I think I know what is coming and I am definitely apprehensive if I am up to the challenges. So many mixed emotions!

Feb 25, 2017

Oh wow am I exhausted!!! It was nerve racking but oh so fun! My son, Evan did the driving. He was so amazing and not scary one bit. My youngest son, Joel got sick part way through. We took him home for a bit and then picked him up again near the end. My son, Joshua, who lent us his car for the race operated the selfie stick and took all the pictures. He operated two phones all day, one uploading pictures to the correct place on Facebook, the other looking up website for the on-line sponsors and answering questions. I did the navigating and writing in the passport book. We made it to all but two businesses and answered most of the on-line business sponsor questions. We made it back just before end time at 1:30. We all felt we did well, but alas we didn’t finish well. No prizes for any kind for our team. I thought I costumes were amazing and we followed all the rules to a “T”. We all agreed we sure had fun though. It will be a memory forever etched in our lives!

My husband, Wayne, my oldest son, Warren, my youngest son’s girlfriend, Celeste, my friend and co-worker, Janice and her oldest son, Keith were all there afterward to support me/us. I feel so honored and blessed to have them all there to support me. The biggest thank you to you all!

So for the news you have been waiting for… I MADE IT TO THE TOP 15! I was so shocked when they called my name I thought I was mistaken. I was so excited and tears were rolling. I still can’t believe it! I guess I must have done something right. Now on to segment two. Here we go! Hope you come along for the ride!

Ok, so now I am getting a bit nervous and anxious. The race is tomorrow and I am not sure if we are prepared enough. We bought a map, marked it all out. I typed out all the addresses of all the businesses and we figured out a route. The team sign is finished and I have a selfie stick and everything we need for our costumes. Tomorrow will come early as we are meeting at my youngest son’s place next door to me at 8 AM. Have to get up early, off to bed now. Wish us luck!

I had my final meeting with my team for the Amazing Race. They have worked hard at having forms filled in for the U Drive a Ford event, making our team sign and trying on hilarious costumes. I can’t thank them enough for all the support and willingness to participate. Two of them even had to book time off work. I can’t say enough about my kids! They are awesome!

Some days, well are just regular days. Other than voting ended at noon today, it was just a regular day. I finished third in the voting and still can hardly believe it! I really don’t feel I will make the Top 15, not sure why I feel that way after finishing third in voting, however my weigh loss was nothing fantastic and I don’t feel I excelled at anything else. Well, we will find out Saturday.

So weigh and measure were great today! I was down 4.4 pounds and my inches remained the same. Down in some up in others. Final numbers for the first segment! I am pretty happy! Total weight loss 11.6 pounds and 8.5 inches!

Today was a rest and recover day.

I had my makeup done by Melissa at Sevenoaks Shoppers Drug Mart. I have wanted to learn about contouring for a long time so we concentrated on that. It was so much easier than I thought, now just to practice. We will do eyes next Sunday.

I met with my team for the Amazing Race, who are my 3 sons. We went over costumes, our roles and our game plans. I feel a bit better about it all now and they seem excited, so instead of trying to focus on many things I have decided to focus on this one event and tackle it to the best of my abilities! This is definitely stepping out of my comfort zone for sure!

The rest of the day was just spent relaxing with my hubby.

It was a very long and emotional day to say the least! So amazing though! We did an exercise that was probably one of the most emotionally and physically draining things I have ever done! I won’t get in to great detail here, however if you want to ask me about it personally, I will tell you about it.

I realized today what I really want and need for my life. I am not ready to share it publicly right now, however I am going to find a way to make it happen!

We also wrote our own Mission Statements today and that I will share:

“My Mission is to encourage and inspire women to feel confident and believe in themselves both inwardly and outwardly”.

Wow what an amazing seminar! Many thanks to Trish and Bruce Warren and Jenny Cough and all the great speakers who gave of themselves for our benefit this weekend!

Now to rest and reflect.

Feb 17, 2017

Tonight was night two of the Real Me Seminar. This seminar is designed to work on our insides, yes our emotional stuff.

So what have I learned about myself you ask? Well, mostly I am A Okay with me. I don’t hold any grudges or need to forgive anyone. The only one holding me back is ME. Somewhere along the way I lost a lot of my self confidence and I need to get it back. That is the main thing I feel I need to work on.

The most emotional part of the evening for me was when we all sang Tim Mcgraw’s “Live Like You Were Dyin”. There were some words in there that really hit home and I will be working on that. Really working on it!

I really need to find some time to put more effort into planning for The Amazing Race. I have less than 2 weeks and feel I am so far behind! I have never done anything like this before and it is definitely stepping out of my comfort zone. I will focus a lot more after this Real Me Seminar weekend is over.

Feb 15, 2017

This evening was the beginning of the Real Me Seminar. It is being held in Langley and I was very nervous about not being able to find the location so I left very early. So as I had thought I couldn’t find it and I freaked out so bad that I was ready to just turn around and drive home. Thanks to Sheryl, one of the amazing ladies in our Challenge, I gathered myself and gave it one more go, found a parking spot and ran in just before they were about to begin.

I am so glad I persevered! It was amazing! In my many years I have taken many courses and counselling in relation to myself and all types of relationships. I felt like I probably didn’t stand to learn too much. Boy was I wrong! So far this has been very eye opening and far different than I thought it would be. Can’t wait till Friday!

Feb 14, 2017

So today we just had weigh and measure as it is Valentine’s Day.

Weight was up 1 pound; inches were down 3 inches. I am a bit discouraged but next week will be better.

Overall I am down 7.2 pounds and inches are down 8.5 inches. These are the numbers for The Abby News, however next weeks’ numbers are what counts for this segment. Upwards, or should I say downwards and onwards!

Feb 13, 2017

Couldn’t get up at 5 am for the gym again. I should have, as they say it is hardest just to get there. This I know to be true. I am starting to get a bit discouraged with all I have to do. I was so hoping that I could at least stay on track with weight, etc. MUST keep going!

I am so exhausted! Started baking and cooking at 8, finished one part by noon, then to run a few errands, groceries, etc. Then more cleaning and more cooking. Everyone started arriving by 4 and stayed till after 9. Then tons of cleanup. Definitely overate, but not too bad. I think I will see it on the scale however.

So today was MAJOR house cleaning day! Big party at our place tomorrow. That was my big workout for the day. I know it is not the same, however I had to get it all done. I am starting to get quite upset with myself; not sure why I can’t motivate myself to get to the gym.

Much better weather day today! Not sure why I didn’t go to the gym, too much time off I guess. I can be such a procrastinator. I must change that! I have managed to keep my calories, etc. in check, now just to find the motivation to exercise. Found two blog sponsor for my page today! So excited. They are Sue Marples, Lighthouse Realty and her daughter Katelyn Marples, Studiokay Salon. Thank you to both of you amazing ladies!

Another bad weather day here in Abbotsford. Today, lots of ice, so no driving again. I am starting to get bored and have way too much energy. Tomorrow is supposed to warm up. Yah!!!

Schools were still closed today with another big winter storm warning in effect. I worked today at Ronald Allan Clothiers, who is one of the sponsors for the Total Makeover Challenge. It is a very busy time of year for us as we are starting to get all our Spring fashions in. Lots to do and like Christmas every day. I have sold 5 of my 10 books of tickets! 5 more to go! Drove my son to and from work again because of the snow and freezing rain. So enjoy his company!

Today my exercise was digging out our truck from all the snow. This was very hard work for me as I am still so out of shape. I felt very accomplished, however when I was done. After a short rest, I went next door to my kid’s place and they all pitched in to dig out my youngest son’s car. They were then able to all drive themselves to work. That was my workout for the day. Tonight was meeting night and because of not going to the gym, I was still hoping for a two-pound loss. Well, 3.2 pounds down! I was ecstatic! I have now lost a total of 8.2 pounds! We were all presented a mini, one-week challenge to sell tickets, 10 books of 10 for $20, for great prizes! After a short nutrition talk from Gina on fibre, we went to Save-On-Foods for a nutrition tour. It was informative and interesting, however a bit different for some of us as to what we have been taught/told previous. I think some of us have more questions now and are doing more research. After, we went to Shopper’s Drug Mart, where Teresa, the biggest loser of the week in our group, had her makeup done. She was beautiful! It was a fun evening; however, I was anxious to get home because of the weather. Love meeting nights!

All the schools are closed and the roads are not great. Today I spent the day driving three of my kids to work and picking them all up. All three at different times. Back to the old days of being a Mom’s Taxi. I loved it though as I was able to spend time with them all. We finally got some groceries, so I can continue to eat healthily. This weather is sure playing havoc on my schedule. I am not a spontaneous person by nature and am having trouble with my regular days not being in sync.

Ok, so even more snow! Again, had every intention of going to the gym first thing this morning, however I am not comfortable driving on these roads. We were supposed to have a birthday party for our oldest son at our place today, however we postponed that until next Sunday as we don’t want any one driving in this. Had a relaxing day and watching what I eat when I am not able to exercise. The snow is so beautiful!

I woke up this morning with every intention of heading straight to the gym, however I looked out my window and decided that my safety was more important. I thought that as the day wore on, the roads would get better, boy was I wrong! As of 4 pm we officially had 38 centimeters of snow! That is 15 inches! I knew I was going nowhere. As we live in a small 1000 square foot townhouse, all I could do for exercise was housework, so that was it for me today. I love the snow, it is beautiful, however it sure does keep one from doing a lot of things. Tomorrow is another day… the forecast does not look promising. I did have a great visit with one of my sons! He is my rock! He is so supportive! He lives next door so was able to just walk over. He is so helpful; he helped me take out the garbage and recycling, sweep off the stairs and taught me a few things on Facebook. Thank you Joshua!!!

Just finished working 12 days in a row! Resting tonight and back to the gym in the morning. I am definitely feeling a bit better about starting to get things done for this challenge. I so appreciate all the support from family and friends! I hope to make you all proud.

I am so close to getting my on-line blog all caught up. So excited about that! One more thing I can check off my list. Another day missed at the gym, but I am determined to get back on track there as well. One more day of work and I get 2 days off in a row! Yipee!

Our meeting was awesome! We had a guest speaker from Fabutan and she was very informative about their services of tanning, red light therapy and others. I look forward to trying it out. Who couldn’t use a little color with the winter we have had. Then we had Heather Rieder and Kim Mallory. Their stories were amazing and I am pretty sure all of us ladies related to them in some way. They had us do an exercise where we all sat in a circle and took turns telling one lady at a time “you are…” beautiful, caring, etc. The lady receiving compliments had to just say thank you. Lots of emotions came up for many as we passed around a box of Kleenex. Thanks Dawn! It was amazing!!! Well I didn’t make my goal of 2 pounds lost, however I lost 1.2 pounds for a total of 5 pounds. That equals more than 2 pounds per week, so I’ll take it! I was down 6.5 inches! I am happy with that!

Tonight is our third meeting night and it is weigh and measure. Pretty nervous as I haven’t been to the gym since Friday and my eating has been all over the place and I am exhausted as I am on day 9 of straight working with no rest. Also I have not done many of the things that I should be doing for the challenge. Not so sure I will make my 2-pound loss this week… we will soon see…

I was far too tired to get up at 5 am today so I skipped the gym again. I knew I was going to have a long day as we had to go and finish up at the rental apartment in the evening after working a full day. Still some stuff to move out. I shampooed all the carpets while others washed floors and moved things out. We didn’t get home till after 9 pm. What a long 12-hour work day!

Today was moving day. My husband and I stayed at the new condo and did our work. The men did all the moving and the ladies cleaned at the old condo. Very late night again! I am getting concerned that I am not eating right, not exercising and don’t have time for the other aspects of the challenge. Somehow I need to work a little less. Tomorrow is another day.

Up and at em early today as we need to work on the kids’ new condo. My husband is doing some pretty difficult electrical work and I am doing lots of painting. Very late night! Sooo tired! Definitely not eating as good as I should be, nor getting to the gym.

I had a training session at the gym this morning as I really need to start working out on some of the machines. Leighton showed me how to use quite a few of them so next time I will get going on the machines as well as cardio. Today our youngest son and his girlfriend go the key to their new condo they purchased. My son is 22 and his girlfriend is 19. I am so proud of them for this! Our whole family is super excited! My husband and I have a bit of work to do there before they move in on Sunday. This will be a long, tiring weekend but so worth it!

Back at it at the gym this morning. Just doing a bit more cardio everyday. It is definitely getting a bit easier, so I am pushing a bit harder. I am slowly figuring out my snacks and suppers and feeling good about my calories, protein and water. Tomorrow is a big day for our family!

I was down 3.8 pounds! Wow! That is almost double to what I was hoping for! I’ll take it! It was so much fun to see how excited all the ladies were at their weight loss; what energy in that room! We had more info from Gina on nutrition. Love her!!! We also had Karina Lanting from Project K talk to us about blogging and social media. I learnt a lot, however I feel that this area could be a big downfall for me. With the help of others, I hope to learn more in this area as well.

Tonight is meeting night and weigh in so I was at the gym at 5:30 am. A bit nervous as to my weight loss, however I will be happy with 2 pounds. I am working so much and don’t seem to have enough time or energy that I feel I need to do this Challenge as good as I should be.

Back to the gym at 5:30 this morning. Still just doing cardio as I am not sure how to use any of the other machines. I am so out of shape and am slowly increasing my minutes everyday. I have to be home by 6:30 to get ready for work so I don’t have quite as much time as I would like.

Last meeting, we were given a 3-day trial pack from Herbalife from Gina and Mallory. I started the first day yesterday. I definitely feel better and have more energy. I met with Mallory today in Chilliwack at The Club for a one-on-one about nutrition. I bought another container of the shakes, which I love and some protein bars. This will take the guess work out of 2 out of 3 meals a day. I am so looking forward to making my food choices easier while still knowing I am getting the nutrition, etc. that my body needs. Today my calories, protein and water were all where they were supposed to be. Thank you Mallory!!!

As of today I have worked 6 days straight. Because the gym only opens at 8 and I had to be at work for 9, I couldn’t go in the morning and was too exhausted this evening. My calories, protein and water were pretty good today, however still not quite where they should be. Tomorrow is another day.

Definitely feeling a bit better today so I was back to the gym. Just doing a bit more cardio everyday. I had my one-on-one with our Life Coach, Heather Reider. She definitely made me think. I am really good at coming up with excuses/reasons for why or why not things are the way they are or are not. Will work on some of the things she advised. I look forward to learning more from her.

I have been so sick these past 2 days that I haven’t gotten to the gym. Still watching what I eat (not very hungry), so my calories, protein and water intake are definitely too low. Hope I am on the mend soon.

I haven’t had a chance to go grocery shopping or try and plan my food so I am just keeping track of my calories, protein and water intake. I am definitely too low in calories and protein and I am working my way up to drinking enough water. I will learn this all yet, I just have to give it time. The biggest thing I have done is cut out all alcohol. Not that I was a big drinker but I used to have a large glass of wine every evening that was about 250 calories. That was equal to 1 pound every 2 weeks! Yikes!!!

Tonight was our first weekly meeting. A lot of new faces. Some really great ladies with some amazing stories. We had our first official weigh and measure.  We met Gina and Mallory, our nutrition coaches. They are both amazing; I felt I could listen to them forever. I thought I knew quite a bit about nutrition, however I realized tonight how little I know. The main things I took away was about protein and water, so as well as counting my calories, going forward I will also track my protein and water. Such an awesome time! Thanks to everyone for all their volunteered time!

So today was my first day back to the gym, a new gym, as Club 16 is one of our great sponsors. I must admit I found it a bit overwhelming as it is much larger and busier than the gym I am used to. I was not sure how to use many of the machines but I managed to do cardio on the elliptical and the treadmill. I am a pretty good morning person, but WOW 5 am comes early!

Tonight was the Meet & Greet at Phoenix Ballroom for all 60 challengers of the 2017 Total Makeover Challenge; 30 from Abbotsford and 30 from Langley. Woke up with a cold this morning, so not in my best form for the evening. It was fun and overwhelming. So many new faces; I hope I remember at least a few. We met many of our sponsors and had our pictures taken by Andrew and Arlene Simpson from photoart by simpson. They are so much fun! It was a great time with lots going on and lots of information. I will just let it sink in for now.

Today I got the call from Jenny of Shape Your World Society! I was one of the lucky challengers chosen for this years Abbotsford Total Makeover Challenge! So exciting and scary. Not sure how I feel about it all yet.

Created on 2017-02-02 22:40:12

I am 53 years old. I have been married to my wonderful husband, Wayne, for almost 25 years. We have 4 adult sons, 2 daughters’ in law and a one-year-old grandson. I had been quite overweight for my entire life, when in 2007 I decided I had had enough. I started counting calories and writing down everything I ate and began to lose weight. Once I had lost about 30 pounds I started to exercise. I went to Curves 5 to 6 days a week. Then I joined TOPS and continued on my journey until I reached my goal weight in Dec of 2007. I had lost a total of 85 pounds.

In January of 2014 I had a heart attack. This was life changing for me in many ways. I had to be on many medications and the weight started to creep back on. I was also premenopausal and I feel this didn’t help either. In July of 2014 we sold our family home of 18 years and moved out on our own. Our eating habits, exercise and lifestyle started changing and more weight started to creep back on. In December of 2016 I realized I had gained back 50 pounds of the 85 I had lost and managed to keep off for 6 years.

I have been a part of the Abbotsford Total Makeover Challenge over the years in a small way. In 2010, 2011 and 2012 I was part of the Fashion Show as I owned a ladies’ consignment store (Klassy Katz) and the challengers would come and chose one or two outfits from my store to wear at the finale fashion show. This gave me the opportunity to get to know many of the challengers and Jenny and Trish from Shape your World Society. It was always so much fun and though that one day, maybe, I would want to be a challenger.

In early Dec of 2016, Jenny and Trish came in to Ronald Allan Clothiers, my employer, to talk to them about the Total Makeover Challenge. Ronald Allan is and have been sponsors of the challenge for many years. I have also met many more of the challengers over the years I have worked for Ronald Allan as they have provided clothing for the fashion show as well. I talked to Jenny and Trish about the challenge and that I may be interested in applying. They encouraged me to apply. I thought about it often for the month of Dec however I never did submit my application as I just wasn’t sure. On Jan 10, 2017, Jenny and Trish came back to Ronald Allan Clothiers and mentioned they hadn’t seen my application yet. They again encouraged me to apply and reminded me I only had until the next day at 3pm. That evening I decided to apply… Now I wait…
